Garlic naan
Naan is a flatbread originating from India, which is served as a side dish to scoop up some lovely curry. It's warm, fluffy, and easy to make it yourself!
Below you will find two versions of naan, which both can be made vegan:
- A speedy version without yeast and therefore, any waiting steps. Just, ready, set, knead and done!
- A longer version with yeast and a 1-2h waiting time. However, it will reward you with the fluffiest naan, definitely worth it!
Speedy naan

For 4 garlic naan
- 2 cups of (whole-grain) flour
- 1/4 cup of (plant-based) milk
- 1/2 cup of (plant-based) thick yoghurt
- 1/2 tbsp of sugar

- 1/4 tsp of salt
For baking the naan
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- 1 garlic cloves
- 1/2 tsp koriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/4 tsp of salt
Directions
Mix the naan ingredients together until a smooth dough is formed. Divide the dough in 4 parts. Flatten the dough parts into an oval with a thickness of ±2 mm. If the dough keeps sticking to the surface or your hands, add some flour.
Mince the garlic cloves and combine the rest of the ingredients together. Coat the naan of one side with the oil and bake this oil-covered side on medium-high heat until the naans are golden (±2 minutes). In the meanwhile, coat the topside of the naans with the oil and flip the naans to bake the other side.
