3 facts you need to know about vitamins

The body cannot make vitamins on its own, or not enough. That is why they are known as essential micronutrients to incorporate into your healthy diet.

Vitamins can be broken down by heat, air, or acid. Therefore, when preparing and storing food, vitamins can be lost (mainly water-soluble vitamins). On the other hand, some vitamins from cut and cooked vegetables more easily.

Vitamins can be divided into 2 categories:

  1. Fat-soluble: mainly from products containing fat, such as fish, meat, oil, nuts, and milk (products).
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin D
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin K

2. Water-soluble: from vegetables, fruits, whole grain products, nuts, legumes, and milk (products).

  • Vitamin C
  • Thiamine (B1)
  • Riboflavin (B2)
  • Niacin (B3)
  • Pantothenic acid (B5)
  • Vitamin B6
  • Biotin (B8)
  • Folic acid (B11)
  • Vitamin B12
